Our Striper guide on the Laurel Dam Trace is Allen Turner. Allen grew up there and has decades of experience catching these huge fish that abound in the cold trace waters from the Laurel dam! In this area where the Cumberland river meets the tail water out of Laurel Lake, the fishing is phenomenal! Limits are caught frequently. The average fish is usually around 13 pounds but larger Stripers are not uncommon. Most excitingly, on many days there is a great “top water” bite as well! This is a very private area and, on most days, we will be the only boat on the water. StriperFun offers day trips on the Laurel Trace year-round (weather permitting). Happy New Year! As 2020 (finally!) winds down, I wanted to drop a line to all my guides, customers, friends and family to say that I enjoyed having you in my life in 2020 and hope that you and yours have a blessed and safe 2021! I pray for our country. That heroes will arise to save it from those who come with smiles that actually wish us harm. It is my great honor to serve my community as Captain of my local volunteer fire department. I encourage you to do something similar to make a difference. I made my pledge at 18 years of age when I joined the Air Force to serve and protect my country. That pledge never expires. Don’t tread on me – Semper Fi – Semper Paratus – Hoorah!! CANCELLATION OF EAST TN FISHING SHOW I am sorry to have to advise that because of circumstances beyond the promoter’s control, I have been notified that the East TN Fishing Show & Expo scheduled for January 2021 in Knoxville TN has been cancelled. This is really a shame because for years, this show has been the largest “pure fishing only” show in the region. However, because of the confusing Covid issue and the uncertainty of current and potential further even more “draconian” governmental interference and restrictions, the decision has been made to cancel the show for January 2021. The plan is to start again with the East TN Fishing Show & Expo in January 2022. Please be so advised.
