I am happy to post the following information about Captain Jim’s Cumberland River Adventure in Tennessee! When you use large 2 to 3-pound Trout as bait, we only target big Trophy fish! As I posted a few days ago, StriperFun welcomed Mark and Lyn Kadrovach from Michigan and we fished the Cumberland River in middle Tennessee! They fished with me for 2 days! Just wonderful new friends! We traded jars of our each home made barbecue sauces and also several recipes! And they had great sandwiches made from their own livestock! Awesome 😊😊 We hit 2 big fish on the first day! The smaller fish was 43 inches but the first fish was a huge 54 inch fish weighing in at 53 pounds on the Boga scale. Not to be outdone, we turned around on the second day and hit a 49 inch brute then a 44 inch big Striper! A great couple of days landing huge fish and lots of laughs! WE PRACTICE 100% CATCH AND RELEASE I had the pleasure of taking out long time StriperFun client Kory Jasperson from Hermitage TN on the Cumberland River yesterday. Kory is a very knowledgeable fisherman and comes fishing with my company many times a year on some of the (7) waterways we offer services. THE RIVER WAS RED HOT! We hit a double right off the bat with a 20 pound plus fish and a smaller 30-inch fish and then 3 other times during the day “kabam” we hit doubles. But with just one guy on the boat, we would just fight the "largest" fish pulling, We could have probably landed 15 fish with other arms to reel them in, but did not set hooks into all the other double “blow ups”. We ended up with seven fish landed all together with three huge 40 inch plus fish you see Kory holding in the different photos! What a blast!! Enjoy the photos. Video coming! JD is a very experienced fisherman and a very frequent customer of my company. The river did not disappoint! We hit a double right off the bat, but with just one client reeling we just landed one fish but it was a nice one about 37 inches. When you use large 2 to 3 pound Trout as bait, we only target big Trophy fish! Taking a day off today, myself and StriperFun’s Cherokee Lake “Guru” guide Gary Harris went and fished the Cumberland River in middle Tennessee! The river did not disappoint! Pulling these huge Trout on planer boards down tree fallen banks, we hit a 36 inch then a nice 38 inch fish in the first hour. We turned around and reset 3 planer boards and put a down line down. The boat was in 30 feet of water with the boards in 10 feet of water. We went right back up the same bank and “KABAM”, we hit a triple with 2 boards flying off and the down line screaming all at once! With only 2 of us, we had to just put one reel in gear and leave it in the rod holder as we battled the first two! During all of this, the third board blew up, but with no one to set the hook that fish got off! Once we landed the two planer board fish, I brought in the down line fish! The smallest fish of these three was 39 inches with one fish measuring 47 inches. They were all huge females! We actually had to go back to land the biggest down line fish (I was having trouble gaining on her in the current). She ended up having a 29 inch girth! Enjoy the photos. Video coming!
