What a great trip to Grand Cayman! Marty and Martini Arostegui and I flew down Friday and had a great lunch with King Flowers and Mark Bothwell at the Brasserie . We then settled in to the hotel after hitting Kirk Marine for Bait and sinkers. Saturday and Sunday we fished for super deep dwellers. Martini is an authority on hand cranking the rarest of Fish. We met King Kong Clayton Ebanks at his boat and headed out in 5 to 7 foot seas. Day one produced two never before recorded as caught on rod and reel American sack fish. The larger should be a new all tackle IGFA world record. We also caught a beard fish. Sunday we ran about 20 miles in seas to 10 feet to fish the south side of Grand Cayman. Our first drop produced a pomfret, Martini’s second Atlantic, as well as a Pacific pomfret he caught in Hawaii. Our third drop produced a domine. This would have been a record as well, however we never saw the bite in 1600 feet of water and 8 foot swells. Thus I wound up 4-500 feet and Marty wound up even more before turning the rod over to Martini, who had already wound the other rod up from the depths. We had a few more bites as the day passed, but no more hook ups. I can’t say enough about how great a captain and host King Kong Clayton Ebanks is. It sure was a super time with great people.

We kept our Veterans busy for 3 hours and 15 minutes yesterday! They all had some cranking time on the 92" and 400 pound Bluefin tuna!!! We are pulling the boat for our annual spring maintenance on Monday, but we will be taking reservations for next winter if you and your friends would like a shot at one of these beasts! We will be back fishing around the first of April and will be targeting the yellowfin and blackfin tuna. Give us a call to book your trip with us!

Over the past few days our guests are still reporting good numbers of fresh fish like these two beauties caught a few weeks ago! Given the number of steelhead we've observed this past fall and over the winter, this spring drop back season should be fantastic. If you're considering coming up, we suggest from the middle to the end of April. The first few weeks of May can be excellent too with a mix of steelies, smallies, and potential for an Atlantic salmon.
