Booked two consecutive half day trips out of Sailfish in FL. First day was myself and two 9 year olds. Capt. Joe and Sasha worked hard to make the trip memorable for the boys. They were super patient and welcoming to even these novice anglers. 2/3 on sails and a nice smoker kingfish. Second day with a group of seasoned anglers. They allowed us to be more engaged in the process as they became more comfortable that we could take direction. 2/2 on sails, all the kingfish we wished to catch and the trip eded with a solid dolphin. This is a professional top-notch crew that will work very hard to keep the lines tight. If you want to experience a clinic in live bait kite fishing look no further. You will not be disappointed with a trip on the Osprey.
We did a half day out of Singer/West Palm. Conditions were sub par for a trophy but here is why I give the 5 stars. Right from the get go the captain and mate were managing expectations: be patient, we will be working. And they were. While we had an unsuccessful start, they made a strategy change and got us on some fish. Danny, the mate, was hussling hard and sweating up a storm - I think he ties fishing line knots in his sleep - and it was game on. Its hard to find a crew with some hussle any more these days (at least outside of a tournament) but this is a boat to utilize. Happy fishing!
I had the pleasure of spending a recent morning on the water with Capt. Joe on the Osprey. For the beach crowd conditions were perfect, south winds, 2ft seas and not a cloud in the sky. When you're trying to catch Sailfish and Mahi those are close to as bad as conditions can get. What could have been an expensive boat ride turned out to be a great day on the water. Capt. Joe and mate Dan worked the kite and live bait, making every effort to entice a bite. Sensing that the two young members of our crew (10 & 13 years old) were getting restless, he called for lines in changed spots and put us on some great Barracuda and Shark action. Four Barracuda and a 350lb Bull Shark later there were smiles all around. Experiences like this are exactly why we created Fin & Field. A day on the water with Capt. Joe is worth every penny. Where many lesser captains would have been content floating around for a few hours of no action, the Osprey crew worked to make it a great experience. I highly recommend Capt. Joe and the Osprey for your next adventure!
