AIN'T HE HANDSOME! All spiffed up for the holidays, this dude is ready to cruise all of Browntown. <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
For those wishing you were fishing, here are a few pictures of some of the private waters we fish here in northern New Mexico/southern Colorado.
BEAM ME UP MR. SPOCK - The aliens have landed (but they sure are fun to catch). A native "palacuttybrownbowkokanbrookie" trout? What the??? 🤪 <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
With great river conditions, few anglers and willing fish; winter fishing here in northern New Mexico is a blast! If you are thinking about doing a little skiing here in our area, why not fit in a day or two of fishing while you are here. We love to fish during the "off season"
Beautiful fall colors and brown trout. Wishing everyone a fantastic Thanksgiving!
Greetings everyone, We will be posting a fly pattern tied by one of our guides every month. To kick off our first "Fly of the Month" we bring you a creation from the mind of our fearless leader Noah Parker. The Rasta Bugger, stripped streamer style or dead drifted under an indicator, can be very effective. Enjoy! RASTA BUGGER HOOK: Daiichi 1710 - size 8 or 10 THREAD: 70 or 140 Denier, Black Ultra Thread EYES: Black Bead Chain WEIGHT: .020 Lead Wire; 10 to 12 Wraps Behind Bead Chain Eyes TAIL: Black Marabou HACKLE: Black Saddle Hackle BODY: Dark Hare’s Ear with Olive UV Ice Dubbing and Olive-Brown Ice Dubbing mixed in to suit. TYING & FISHING NOTES: Tie on eyes first; finish fly by picking out dubbing between the hackle with bodkin and brush back towards the tail. Fish as tailing fly in a double nymph rig. Works well in both rivers and lakes. If you have any questions about how to tie this fly or want to talk about fly fishing here in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado give us a call (505) 629-5688
Hey Everyone, Hope you are having a great fall season and getting out on the water some. Just got a new fishing report up on the website - check it out by clicking on the link below. Stay in touch and... Stay Well! https://loeflyfishing.com/Other_Stuff/NM_Fishing_Report/
With snow and ice on the rivers in many of our northern neighbors in the West, the mild temperatures and good fishing in our area have got us spoiled here in the Land of Enchantment. Big fish and great weather - fall fly fishing New Mexico style!
FLYING FISH - This gentleman had his hands full last week. Follow the bouncing bow... <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
WELCOME TO THE MOUNTAINS - Beating the heat in the high country; can't think of a better way to do it... <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
WALTER THE WHALE - After twelve rounds of heavyweight battle royal we finally netted a fish the size of this kiddos leg! <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
HE ATE IT! - Always a great sight to see a big fish eat in big flows on the river! In high runoff the bigger fish have to hold in the same spots as the other trout and in doing so give the angler a chance at passing a fly by their mouth! <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
SMALL FLY; BIG FISH - The San Juan has been the color of glacier run-off, murky and grey. No one has the correct answer as to why it was so off color. Some say the spillway, others say the high run-off has scoured the lake inlet and sucked silt into the lake - maybe its all the ash being dragged out of the area where the massive fire occurred in the headwaters a few years back. Either way the river is now clearing and the browns don’t seem to care at all about the off color water. Hopefully after the 5,000 CFS flush the river will be gin clear again the these guys will start rising to dries, but until then we are happy hooking them on nymphs! <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
Great fishing with LOE over Memorial Day weekend
My spouse and I searched for a 1 day trout fishing event while spending a few days in wonderful Santa Fe, NM. We decided to secure a trip with LOE due to their numerous positive recommendations. We discussed the possibilities with the manager, Bubba and Aaron the actual Santa Fe guide. Due to the Navajo dam floodgates being opened. We chose nearby lakes on the Bar X Bar ranch. LOE provided a pickup service at our hotel, a very nice lunch and provided high quality ORVIS tackle. Aaron was helpful and added to the trip by helping us learn more about trout fishing. My spouse and I caught several rainbow and brown trout that day. Want to get out of SF for a day? Go fishing, but go with LOE if you liked our positive notes above. Kumu and Lehua.
SILENCE - It has been a savior to fish some of our private water lakes recently. The fish are happy, healthy and hungry and so much and so are the fisherman (on the Bar x Bar Ranch yesterday)! <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
ONLY 800+ FEET DOWN - Just a little stroll to the Rio; the trout are waiting patiently. What a beautiful view from the canyon rim last weekend. <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
ESTONIAN FINGER NYMPHING - We fished euro style today... <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
SPRING GRABS- As the air warms and the water temperatures rise, the big fish are on the hunt for little fish - streamers rule! <•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•><•>
