About
One of the oldest, if not the oldest, continuously operating charters in the State of Michigan!
Brothers Al & Sonny Kimar started the family business in 1945 in its current location. In 1967, Al's son Dave took over the fishing operations. In 1978, Captain Dave purchased a boat with a larger engine and greater fuel capacity than the old wooden boats and became the first charter to venture 45 miles out to Stannard Rock. In 1992, Captain Dave's son-in-law, Ric O'Neill, obtained his captain's license and has been running a boat ever since. In 1992 we also began making trips to the Big Reef.
With over 50 years of experience, we have the knowledge and skills to provide an unforgettable fishing excursion. Many of our patrons have returned again and again to enjoy what for others is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
LAKE SUPERIOR FISH
Lake Superior's original "alpha" is the Lake Trout. The majority of our catch consists of these native fish, as they prefer the chilly depths of Superior. These trout can live over 25 years and the state record is 61 lbs! Our catches range from 3-30 lb. Our largest fish caught weighed 38 lbs 7 oz and even briefly held the state record! In the early season when the water is colder, we can catch Coho Salmon on the surface lines. We even catch an occasional Whitefish. Lake Trout are some of the best tasting fish. We're more than happy to share our tips on cooking them
