Description
Albacore, also called longfin, is in the tuna family and is the only tuna allowed to be marketed as "white meat tuna" in the United States. They are a highly migratory pelagic fish that hunt for food in the open ocean. Albacore feed on fin bait, like anchovies, but unlike other tunas they make a large part of their diet with squid. Their defining characteristics are a set of extremely long pectoral fins and a dark back with a silver-blue color on the sides.
