The Sacramento Perch fry are now present on Crowley Lake, & the bigs are hunting them along the weed lines. This is the time of year when the larger cutthroat, & browns move in from deeper water to feast on these tiny forage fish.The great weather we had over the weekend kept the rods bent in Hilton and Mcgee Bays. Fish remain deep-16-21 feet. Nymphing with an Under-cator, and suspending midge patterns a couple feet off the bottom is the most consistent; however I did see some tubers hooking up along the deep weed lines using smaller punk perch, & damsel nymph imitations. Copper emergers, gillies, copper tiger & dark zebra midges are good calls for nymphing. Weather is forecast to be warm and dry this week. Some algae buds starting; however the water clarity is great for July. Cap't Ron Obray and Lisa Worthington showing off a sweet double in McGee. Dave & Dan Ackerman got into them on Doug Dolans fish magnet. Joey Horvath says he is hooked on fly fishing after sticking big cutty's like this in Hilton. "Big fish" Lee Deminski & Alex Corsaro booked another day with "Dougie Fresh" (Doug Rodricks) with fish like this on the prowl.
